My academic journey began with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and an M.S. in Neuroscience from Seoul National University (advisor: Dr. Jeanyung Chey, Clinical Neuroscience Lab). I then pursued a Ph.D. in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology at Indiana University Bloomington (advisor: Dr. George V. Rebec, Psychological and Brain Sciences). During my doctoral studies, I engaged in monitoring rodent brain activities through in vivo electrophysiology and fast-scan voltammetry analysis to understand the effects of drugs of abuse. Following my Ph.D., I explored the genetic influences on addictive behavior as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Pharmacogenomics, Ohio State University. Subsequently, I served as a Chief Researcher at the Center for Happiness Studies, Seoul National University, identifying key factors that promote psychological and physiological health and well-being.

Currently, my research has been supported by the Sejong Science Fellowship Grants, provided by the Ministry of Science and ICT since 2021, focusing on a project titled “Psychological vs. Physical Well-being: A New Approach Using Salivary and Gut Microbiome Biomarkers.” This project underscores my commitment to understanding the complex mechanisms that contribute to our well-being.
